Earlier this month on the Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint in California against two stem cell clinics and the physician behind them. The two companies, Regenerative Medical Group, and Telehealth Medical Group, both in Orange County, made deceptive claims that “amniotic stem cell therapy” can treat serious diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, autism, macular degeneration, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and heart attacks.

The problem was that the claims were not supported by any scientific evidence. This violates the FTC Act, which outlaws false advertising and deceptive practices affecting commerce. The FTC made an injunction for them to stop the deceptive advertising and pay a large fine.

This is just one of many clinics that perpetrate claims that are far from the truth. What are these “amniotic stem cell therapies”? The FTC’s complaint defines them as an “experimental and unproven treatment” that uses stem cells derived from the amniotic fluid of women who have had C-sections. True stem cell therapies like the ones we provide here at Wasatch Pain Solutions derive stem cells from your own bone-marrow which are processed in our advanced lab to ensure a high stem cell count.

The FDA cracked down on similar clinics in Florida earlier this year, in which a clinic claimed they could cure blindness with amniotic stem cells. Let your friends know about this issue when they are researching Stem cell clinics to treat their conditions. Always choose a reputable provider who used true bone marrow derived stem cells.
